Help for Harvey's SLPs

Hurricane Harvey is an active tropical cyclone that is causing unprecedented and catastrophic flooding in southeastern Texas. Many speech language pathologists will lose all of their supplies and materials as their schools and homes have flooded. We created this funding page as a way to help them replace lost resources. Our goal is to get usable hard goods or gift cards in their hands when it is safe for them to return to work. Please join us by donating.
Therapy materials costs can add up quickly and it may take a while for insurance claimes to come through. We want to help SLPs and their students with some immediate relief.
The cost of an articulation testing kit (diagnostic): $300+
The cost of a language testing kit (diagnostic): $700+
Therapy kits/games: $50+
Therapy workbooks: $30+
Curriculum kits: $150+
100% of the proceeds will go to Texas SLPs affected by hurricane Harvey. We plan to send therapy materials, gift cards, and care packages (we will be purchasing items from wish lists the actual therapists affected will make). Our goal is to provide SLPs with materials they can use immediately to serve their students. *These funds will not be used to purchase digital resources on Teachers Pay Teachers or similar marketplaces created by the organizers of this fundraiser. How the funds will be managed:
One of the advisory board members (Amanda Schaumburg) was elected to handle the funds (the funds will be withdrawn to her account to purchase supplies/materials). The SLPs who were affected will sign up through our intake process. Our advisory board will then verify that their school/facilities were damaged and send follow up message requesting a report on the damages/materials lost. The SLPs affected will then make wishlists on Amazon and other websites and send them to the advisory board. After reviewing the wishlists, the advisory board will agree upon an initial amount for each SLP who signed up and Amanda Schaumburg will buy and ship the items directly to the SLPs with the funds from this campaign. For accountability, a detailed spreadsheet of exactly how the funds will be used is kept along with receipts for all of the transactions. The advisory board will report to and update the facebook group created for the donors after each shipment has been made.
