Pushups for Parkinsons

Donation protected
I want to invite you to contribute to a cause. Next Sunday, October 21st, I want all of us to fight; let’s fight like the fighters at Rock Steady Boxing fight the degenerative disease of Parkinsons each and every day . Next Sunday you will have the opportunity to lend a hand in the fight against Parkinsons disease at the “Pushups for Parkinsons” event. The fundraiser is to raise money for the Parkinsons Wellness Center to assist the center’s ongoing support for individuals and families affected by Parkinsons disease. Additionally, the event will also raise awareness about the disease, latest medical advances and strategies, and it will provide some insight toward the disease and how debilitating it can be. Having said that, this event is all about HOPE and what we can do to assist those in need!

The event hits home for me because my 59 year-old father, Norm Plumb, has been diagnosed with Parkinsons for three years now. I am eternally grateful for the support and solidarity the Parkinsons Wellness Center offers, specifically Rock Steady Boxing. It has allowed him to accept the hand he has been dealt with this disease and it has provided him with an understanding of how and what he can do to fight. Rock Steady Boxing offers support to individuals and families by: improving cardiovascular health, aiming to improve fine and gross motor movements, allowing fighters to have a laugh and see the promise in their fight and, most importantly, it allows their struggles and successes to be heard and understood by others affected by the disease.

So, how can you help out? Either attend the event next Sunday, October 21st (12pm start, 103-450 E. Columbia Street, New Westminster, BC) and join me in asking for others to pledge toward your maximal number of pushups completed in 30 minutes. The pledges can be a flat rate or a certain amount per pushup. Can’t make it? That’s okay – just take a video of yourself and either email or post to the Parkinsons Wellness Center Facebook page (more info in attachment). Lastly, I’m asking for you to pledge for me. Again, this can be either a flat rate or a certain amount (dictated by you) per pushup. Pledges can be sent to: https://www.gofundme.com/fggf4j-pushups-for-parkinsons&rcid… . Alternatively, funds can be brought to the event as cash or cheque.

Next Sunday, I hope we all show a little fight!
