Zoie's Summer Educational Opportunity

Don protégé
Hello, friends!

My name is Kenyatta Gaines, and I am reaching out to you to ask for your support in helping my daughter, Zoie, attend a one-of-a-kind learning experience this summer. Zoie has been accepted into a three-week summer immersion experience at Beacon College in Leesburg, Florida, which specializes in transitioning students who have different learning needs from high school to college.

Zoie Colbert is a high school junior in the Fort Bend Independent School District (FBISD) in Richmond, Texas. During her time in high school, she has accomplished several academic and social goals. Zoie was a member of the girl’s basketball teams in middle school, high school, and AAU, where she exemplified leadership and team-building skills.

Academically, Zoie has maintained a 3.8 GPA which has earned her recognition in academic excellence and the National Society of High School Scholars. Socially, Zoie has flourished tremendously in becoming more vocal and confident these past two years in high school. She is a member of several clubs and organizations at her school. She has taken PreAP and AP courses in all four core content areas in all three years of her high school career. As if her plate could not be fuller, she also spends half her day learning in the culinary program at the Career and Technical Center in FBISD, and is a volunteer with the Houston Humane Society. Despite the challenges she’s faced, she has achieved great success thus far.

Therefore, we would like to keep this momentum going this summer! Taken directly from their website, Beacon College is the first college in the country accredited to award bachelor degrees exclusively to students with learning disabilities, ADHD and other learning differences. The Summer for Success High School Immersion experience helps college-bound high school juniors and seniors and recent graduates who learn differently build the skills, confidence and preparation they need to successfully transition from high school. Students better understand their learning differences, recognize early stumbling blocks and know what they need to succeed in their first year of college.

Please consider supporting Zoie with this summer experience. Any contribution you can give will be greatly appreciated. See you soon and take care…

Love,
Kenyatta Gaines
