Matt's kidney transplant
Donation protected
Matt Stigers is a 27 year old young man who was otherwise healthy and never suspected major health complications. On December 20, 2016 Matt went to a quick care clinic for blurry vision. He was then sent to the emergency room because of an extremely high and abnormal blood pressure. He ended up being hospitalized for a week at the University of Iowa hospital where he underwent extensive testing and learned that his kidneys were functioning at 6% due to iGa neurophathy- kidney disease where Matt's own immune system was attacking his kidneys. This would require the big lifestyle change of kidney dialysis or an organ transplant . After a year of dealing with kidney disease and it's physical, emotional, and financial toll, Matt has found out that his brother is a match for a kidney donation transplant.
