Janine's Journey

Janine Ligato An amazing woman, daughter, sister, wife, mother and dearest friend. You've never met anybody quite like her, she has the strength of an ox, having had major health challenges in her life, the heart of a saint, would do anything for you, forever helping friends and family, always putting others first. Completely devoted to her beautiful girls Emilia (15yrs) & Sofia (12yrs) and loving husband Tony. Janine has been a major part of our Gladesville Local Community with her devotion and volunteer work with the local parish, local club Ravens and many others, including community events, working with local members of parliament in making positive changes within our area and giving of her time freely, even though she was a working mum. Most people who have been in anyway involved with her and have had the pleasure of being friends with Janine know she has always had your back.  Giving openly of her time and consideration to others, making a major positive impact in everything she has done. Janine has always been a pillar of strength, both physically and mentally.  She fought a long battle after being diagnosed at just 34 years of age - now 12 years ago with Hodgkins Lymphoma Cancer (Leukaemia) and was looking to go into remission this year.  At the beginning of this year she was given the shocking news that a different cancer had returned to her body. With her tenacious and positive attitude she tried to fight it with the strongest chemo and radiation therapy available, being in and out of hospitals continuously all year. In late May, Janine was given the devastating diagnosis that the cancer has spread throughout her body, and there nothing more they could do for her. She was told go home hug her kids and family and prepare to say goodbye as it could be weeks, months or just days. The Ligato family has been integral in all our lives and we want to do whatever we can to make things just a little easier for Tony and Janine's beautiful girls Emilia & Sofia, by giving back as she has given us all so much. Janine’s wishes are that those that rather than flowers sent at this time if you could save for the day of the service, her request would be any white coloured flowers.
