This request IS NOT from the family. It is from dozens of friends who wanted to do something for Jesse's children and felt money toward college would be the best.
Jesse Starr Friedman passed away suddenly on Sunday January 31, 2016. He was 62 years old. Jesse was a unique individual - he had many friends from a private club he belonged to, friends from a summer place he frequented, friends from an enormous, loving neighborhood in NYC and a deep love for his cousins and family. Most important, Jesse was the most amazing, loving, consistently available dad to his 19 year old twins who are currently attending SUNY Binghamton and SUNY Cortland.
Jesse maintained very close friendships with friends from Flushing High School - the group known as 'the Flushing boys'. He has known them since third grade. Jesse has been a very giving soul during his life, showing up for family and friends. RIP Jesse. You left us way too soon.
