Yuwa Spain Fund

Hi everyone, my name is Aarthi Rajaraman and I'm a freelance producer/journalist based out of Barcelona, Spain. Over 6 years ago, I had the pleasure of meeting the amazing girls and founders of Yuwa. They are an incredible group of inspiring young women, breaking cultural norms to play football (soccer) and pursue educational and employment opportunities normally not made available to women in the region. Even more impressive is that this beautiful program and school founded by the incredible duo of Franz and Rose Gastler gives these young women a chance to develop (on all levels), pursue their dreams, and prevent arranged child marriages.

I had the pleasure of finally sharing their story on HBO's Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel and our goal is to bring several of the girls over to Spain in 2024 to play a series of football competitions in Bilbao and Barcelona. We hope to get a few of them placed in top programs in the country, so they can pursue both their sporting and educational development in a new country.
