The Lent family lost our home and our beloved pets to housefire this week. It's unimaginable. But we are alive and will rebuild. The outpouring of love and requests to support has been overwhelming. Stunning really. Normally we would not ask for anything and would prefer to be the givers, it's very difficult for us to accept help. But someone explained to me today that people want to help, need to help and we need to open ourselves up to that now. We will need things afterall. We need everything! Frankly, I don't even know where to begin.
We will accept donations for the new house and for the children, we can arrange to get those items from you. If you would like to share used books, games, sports equipment for Graham and Oliver, they would genuinely appreciate that. And anything girly Martha will love! The children have been amazingly strong but what has affected them (and me) the most is the loss of our two dogs Charlie & Ginger, and our cat Tiger. We are still looking for Mommy Cat daily with food and humane trap and hoping she shows up and she was not inside the house.
After a lot of thought we would really like to raise money to honor our beloved pets. So as strong and proud as we are, we will accept small donations that we will use to donate to the Harford County Humane Society in hopes we can purchase two benches to be placed in the gardens at the new facility being built. And if there is anything more we can use the donations for we will find a way to put them to good, meaningful use.
You have been wonderful with your requests to help. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We have been moved by all of your outreach and love. Completely humbled by it. Life is good.
