Help Young Arlington Musicians Travel to Europe
Donation protected
For the first time since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, Arlington High School performing arts students in the Madrigal Singers, Honors Orchestra, and Jazz Band have the opportunity to embark on an educational and musical trip to Europe.
Led by AHS faculty Tino D'Agostino and Mara Walker, students will visit world-renowned cultural venues such as La Scala opera house in Milan. They will collaborate with and perform for fellow musicians in Varese, Italy and Lugano, Switzerland.
So that this trip will be possible for families of all means, students and parents are working to raise money for scholarships. Fundraising initiatives include the sale of musical telegrams, bake sales, paid performances, and sales of homemade ornaments and delicacies.
These young musicians were in grades 6 through 9 when the Covid-19 pandemic began. They have mourned the loss of canceled concerts and plays and missed out on cherished performing arts traditions. Forced to gather remotely rather than in person for several months, they pivoted to online lessons, rehearsals, and even performances.
Now we are thrilled that they can travel the world together. We are also confident that they will build on their experiences and the connections they make on this trip long into the future.
We would be grateful for your contribution to help us get every student who wants to go on the plane to Milan—surrounded by good friends, supportive teachers, and plenty of music!
