As most of you know, I am working towards my Masters of Public Health at University of Michigan. Part of requirements to obtain this degree is a 318 hour summer internship-- with a majority of these opportunities unpaid. 

Our cohort recently found out that summer funding has been capped at $500 for the entire summer. While anything helps, $500 is just a drop in the bucket when considering living expenses from May 1- August 31. Because our 318 hours are not registered as credits, we are unable to apply for financial aid to assist during these times.

I am going to school full time (15 graduate hours), work 20 hours a week on campus and work PRN for a nonprofit out of Berkeley, CA. I knew graduate school would be expensive but I did not expect that my required internship would come with a small $500 stipend. Because I cover my car payment/insurance with these jobs and my savings account covers rent/some of the remaining tuition my scholarship doesnt cover... I am unsure how to make this summer work.

As of current, I have two internship opportunities with fantastic organizations-- organizations that I do not want to give up. If I can raise enough money to just cover some of my rent and groceries for the summer... or even just make a small dent... I would be eternally grateful.
