Love Always Wins- Curtis & Tanisha

Curtis and Tanisha get engaged and start their forever.
April 2018
They buy their first home. The home that they would joke about owning every time they passed it on their way fishing. Their dreams were finally coming true- a forever home where their dogs could run free, everyone had a bedroom, and their grandbaby could play outside and learn all about the country.
Feb 2019
Curtis learns that he needs surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff and carpal tunnel. He expected to be off for 6 months, but soon ended up with complications resulting in frozen shoulder which did not allow him to return to work. It was not healing as it should.
Summer 2019
Tanisha had been working as the Executive Director for a crisis agency, on call around the clock for many years in a high stress environment. Due to her own health reasons which cause quite a big scare in 2018 she had to made the hardest decision to leave for her health and for her family. She wanted to be home more- building her life with Curtis. Tanisha started a new job in a whole new field- taking a leap of faith and a big pay cut to be able to actually live the life they had imagined- a simpler life with family at the heart. More time to travel and be with the ones they love most.
Fall 2019
Curtis had not been feeling well, and they were concerned as he had lost a lot of weight for no known reason. After pushing him to go to the doctor and agonizing weeks of scans and tests and meetings with doctors and specialists and numerous trips to Thunder Bay (requiring time off work, and travel expenses), they learned that Curtis, at age 46 has been diagnosed with Stage 2 non-small cell lung Cancer.
He will require possible chemo and radiation in the weeks to come, and a lobectomy to remove the Cancer and 1-2 lobes of his lung in Mid January. This is going to be a long recovery- and then the battle of chemo and radiation.

While they are ready to fight this battle together hand in hand, they could use some support. Curtis has been off work for some time, and with Tanisha just starting a new job and needing time off to support him in this battle, finances have been tough. During this time of the unthinkable happening, they should not have this worry on their hearts as well.
My sister, Tanisha has always been the most selfless person I have known. She would literally give the shirt off her back to anyone in need, and yet she would not ask a thing of anyone. In fact I’d you ask her how’s shes doing, she would put a smile on her face and tell you she’s alright just to keep your heart free from worry.

Over the past several years- I have gotten to know Curtis as a kind, funny, loveable guy who loves his family, children and granddaughter fiercely. He has became an awesome uncle to my girls and it hurts my heart to see him have to take on this battle. 

I started this Go Fund Me page to show my sister and Curtis that they have love and support from near and far. To help them with the expenses that have come, and will continue to come over the coming months with hospital stays, and travel.
