AID for AVA
Donativo protegido
This is Ava. She is 11 1/2 years old and LOVES to dance. She also loves the New England Patriots, especially GRONK! She is is 6th Grade in Westford, though she has been unable to attend school since September 2018, as she is immune-compromised and even the slightest cold could send her back to the hospital.
Ava was born with Hyperplastic Right Heart Syndrome, and has already had 2 open heart surgeries. She also has a condition called PLE- Protein Losing Enteropathy, which is a rare but serious and life threating condition, as a result of the open heart surgeries, she has had.
She has been hospitalized many times in her life, with 3 times just last year (2018). At this point, she is not strong enough to be put on the heart transplant list. As often a heart transplant cures the PLE.
Next week 2/5 she will head to CHOP(Children's Hospital of Philadelphia) to have a procedure done that has been proven to stop the PLE symptoms, and hopefully avoid or at least delay the need for a heart transplant. She has pre-op on 2/6 a appointment with a GI doctor on 2/7 and the procedure is scheduled for 2/8.
CHOP is the only hospital in the country that is doing this procedure. Ava's doctors at Boston Children's Hospital have exhausted all other treatment options, as to why they are referring her to CHOP.
Please help the Berson family with whatever donation no mater how small for expenses for travel, food, etc while they are in Philadelphia.
They are so appreciative of all the emotional and financial support they have received over the past years, especially last year, and thank everyone for all your support. We truly would not have made it this far without all of you.
