Xena’s Gender-Affirming Surgery

Hi everyone, it’s Xena here! I’m a Black trans femme born and raised in NYC. I’m reaching out to my community for support because I’ll be having gender-affirming surgery this May. This is a big milestone for me on my transition journey. I’ve been on HRT for almost 4 years now, and I’m finally ready to start a new chapter of my life.

Recovery isn’t just physical—anxiety and emotional distress is so real during this time. Recovery takes you through so many emotions. Week by week, I will be regaining more energy, which is a very humbling experience. Simple things like running errands can be overwhelming and lack of motivation during this time is completely valid.

Unfortunately, I’ve also had to deal with an traumatic experience. I’ve endured predatory behavior from one of my roommates and survived a violent robbery at knifepoint on the morning of February 18th.

All proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards securing safe haven accommodations, maintaining housing stability, accessing food assistance, and supporting my post-surgery recovery, transportation, and other essential needs. Your support means the world to me as I embark on this new chapter of my life, anything goes a long way. Thank you for being here with me.
