Help Erin Kick Cancer's Butt!

October 3rd, Erin had an appointment with her primary physician for a routine check. While there, she mentioned to the doctor that she had also been experiencing pain in her left breast for a couple of days. The doctor did a breast exam, and told Erin that "it's just hormonal, and there is nothing to worry about." A week later, Erin reached back out yo her primary and got a referral to the Piper Breast Cancer clinic.

Friday, October 14th, after a mammogram, ultrasound and a biopsy, Erin received the call that no one wants to get. They found a tumor, and it is cancerous.

Erin had an MRI on Halloween and they found a second tumor in the same breast. On Friday 11/11 she went in for a second biopsy to see if this tumor was also cancerous.

On 11/14, the results came back showing that it was cancerous, but unfortunately a different type of cancer. The original tumor is Invasive Ductal Carcinoma and grows like an onion, the new tumor is Microinvasive Lobular Carcinoma, which means it grows like a fern, or "lattice-like".

Erin is getting a lumpectomy on Tuesday November 22nd. She will require about a month of radiation following the surgery.

Even though we all know Erin kicks butt at everything she does. These are huge changes and on top of a new job, new apartment and going to school at the same time. PTO for taking care of herself has yet to accrue. Just asking for help to help cover expenses that come up and help cover what insurance can't.
