Cookie, the sweetest wire-haired dachshund, has suffered tremendously despite being only 4 years old. On July 2nd, I witnessed this sweet boy get hit by a car.
At the vet, X-rays showed that his spine was unfortunately severed, and he also needed eye surgery to fix a slit eyelid. We immediately rushed Cookie to the UGA veterinary emergency hospital, where he received spine-stabilizing surgery.
At the primary vet, the bill was slightly over $900. At UGA, I had to place a $5,000 deposit for his surgery, with the total expected cost being between $8,000 and $10,000—not including follow-up appointments over the next few months of his recovery.
Everyone who has met this brave baby is in complete shock at how strong he is! Despite his severe and painful injuries, Cookie has remained friendly and sweet to everyone, even walking around and trying to play with other pups. Any donations towards Cookie's medical costs and recovery would be greatly appreciated!
