Hurricane Laura Relief for our Grandmother

As many have already seen posts by my sisters and my Mom, my grandmother’s home in Louisiana has been severely damaged by Hurricane Laura to a point where it is completely unlivable. There are holes in her floor, numerous leaks, extensive water damage, broken pipes and windows, large electrical lines all over the house, and more. There are also extremely large trees blocking entry to her home and drive. 

My grandmother is 76, uses oxygen, and has significant mobility issues that require assistance. She doesn’t have home insurance, however, we have applied with FEMA for disaster assistance for her (it has not been approved yet). Currently my mom and grandmother are safe and staying with family, but they are without power as well, and sharing gas-powered generators. 

My brother-in-law Haze, his family, and my sister Aimee are headed there this weekend to drop off supplies and to help clean and clear damage, and I will be sending supplies as well, but we could really use your help. 

My sisters (myself, Nena and Aimee) and I have created this GoFundMe to help with expenses, like gas for their generators, non-perishable food (all of my grandmother’s frozen/refrigerated/dry food is now completely damaged and inaccessible), clothes, toiletries, portable chargers, batteries, etc., while my grandmother is waiting on assistance and relying on generators without power. 

If you’re able to donate financially it would mean so much, and if you aren’t your good thoughts and prayers for her and her community are so very much appreciated as well. 

If you would like to donate items instead, there is a list below of what is most needed. These may be “no-contact” dropped off on Tiffany's porch by this Thursday at 2PM (Text Tiffany or message her on Facebook for her address) if closer to Plano area. OR if  you are closer to East Texas, at Nena or Aimee's homes in either Edom or Tyler by this Thursday evening (message them for a drop-off location).

  ex. Tuna lunch kits, Vienna sausages, peanut butter or cheese crackers, pop tarts, granola bars

Again, all funds donated will be handled by Alymae's granddaughters (Aimee Lewis, Nena Burdine and Tiffany Page Carter) and used to help us provide direct relief for my grandmother, Alymae Mahaffey, and we will be donating any unused funds for direct relief to Cherry Grove Baptist Church, and any additional supplies donated will be shared with her community.
