World Championships Dream

Hi, my name is Hannah Smith. I am currently a 3rd year student in TUD, studying sports and business management. I am also a 4th Dan Blackbelt in World Taekwondo and teach in Celtic Taekwondo Santry.

I have been training and competing in both Kyrougi and Poomsae and have represented Ireland at multiple international competitions.

I have been selected to represent Ireland at the next Taekwondo World Championships in November 2024. These championships will take place in Hong Kong this year.

I have actually been selected twice before to attend the World Championships representing Ireland.

In 2020 I was selected to go to Denmark, we were on the ramp up in our training when COVID outbreak happened and ALL world travel was cancelled including all competitions!

In 2022 I was again selected to represent Ireland in Korea (the home of Taekwondo!), the month before we were to travel, Korea implemented extremely strict travel isolation protocols with 2 weeks in Quarantine in Korea before competing. This would have put us in the country for up to 3 weeks. Our NGB, made the decision to not send anyone due to safety concerns.

All of my competitive travels and training has been self funded. I am contacting you today to ask for any contributions, funding or sponsorship that you could make available to me to reach this milestone in my competitive career.

I am seeking funding to attend 3 preliminary competitions in the run up to the World championships and then the World Championships in Hong Kong in November.

One in Austria in June, One in Basingstoke (UK) September and one in Belgium in October. I will also be attending the European University games in Hungry in July this year to represent TUD.
