Baby Wren's Trisomy 18 Story

Donation protected
After 42 weeks in her Mom’s tummy, Wren Michaela came into this world on February 16, 2017 at 8:50pm. She weighed 6 lbs 4 oz, and measured 50 cm long. She went into our Heavenly Father’s arms on February 18, 2017 at 8:50pm – exactly 48 hours after she came.

Wren was diagnosed with Trisomy 18, a rare and fatal genetic condition characterized by an extra copy of the 18th chromosome. This can lead to a variety of problems, including a hole in the heart, which is indeed what Wren had. Her parents, Waylon and Michelle, were told that 50% of these babies don’t survive to full term. Of the ones that do make it to full term, many only live for a few hours, days, or weeks. Very few make it past their 1st birthday.

After receiving this devastating news, and what could not have been an easy decision to make, Waylon and Michelle followed in faith and chose to continue with the pregnancy. Despite a low chance of survival, her parents fought for her life and wanted to see their baby girl born so they would be able to meet her and give her the love she deserves.

After she was born into this world, Wren’s parents cherished every moment they got to spend with her and hold her. Unfortunately, on the 2nd day, her health rapidly deteriorated. But Wren was a fighter – even though she was struggling to breathe, she persisted until her parents knew it was time to say goodbye. Right after her parents told her they loved her, Baby Wren let out a last cry of acknowledgement and passed away in her mother’s arms peacefully.

Baby Wren was so beautiful. She had dark wispy hair, dark brown eyes, long eyelashes, precious lips, and a cute little button nose. This baby girl brought so much joy to not only her parents, but also to friends and family that visited and all the staff that cared for her. It breaks our hearts to see her taken so soon but every moment of her life was a blessing.

I am setting up this GoFundMe Page on behalf of Wren’s parents, Waylon and Michelle, to help with the financial burdens of the burial and funeral service, as well as to help raise awareness and fund research towards Trisomy 18. We hope that through research, Trisomy 18 may one day be preventable and treatable.

Any amount of donation will make a huge difference.
·      50% of all donations received will go towards the burial and funeral service for Baby Wren.
·      The remaining 50% will go towards the Trisomy 18 Foundation, which funds research towards this cause and provides support to parents and families going through similar situations.

Your contribution means the world to us. Thank you all very much for your prayers and support throughout this difficult time. Even if you are unable to personally donate, please share this page with your family and friends to help spread the word.
