ProStart is a nationwide, two-year program for high school students that mold the best and brightest talent into tomorrow’s industry leaders. From culinary techniques to management skills, ProStart’s industry-driven curriculum provides real-world educational opportunities and builds practical skills and a foundation that will last a lifetime. By bringing industry and the classroom together, ProStart gives students a platform to discover new interests and talents and opens doors for fulfilling careers. This year, William Penn High School, located in New Castle, DE placed FIRST in both Culinary and Management in the Delaware ProStart 2016/17 Competition! Delaware has participated in the competition for the past 5 years and William Penn Culinary has placed 1st for the last 3 years and this year both Culinary and Management are heading to Charleston for ProStarts National competition. Not only have these students won a state-wide competition, but they have also volunteered their time and contributed to the creation of The CROP Foundation www.thecrop.org , a non-profit dedicated to raising scholarship money to assist culinary and agriculture high school students pursuing higher education.
Delaware’s National Restaurant Association and William Penn High School continues to show great support and has already raised over half of the proceeds. The CROP Foundations mission is to foster educational and employment opportunities for students and we feel as though this is an ideal opportunity to help these students achieve their goals. I
This year, our amazing FIRST place Culinary and Management team, has the opportunity to compete in the National Level Competition in Charleston, SC on April 28th-April 30th. We need your support to help our talented students get to South Carolina so they can come home with a National Title. THIS IS THE YEAR!!
