What happens when a group of knitters gets together every Tuesday night to watch a knitting competition on YouTube?

A crazy idea is born.

Welcome to the Wooly Games—a one-of-a-kind live knitting competition where six talented knitters will race against the clock to complete a mystery shawl pattern over two exciting days, November 14–15, 2026.

But this event is about so much more than knitting.

The Wooly Games was created with one goal in mind: to raise money for local food banks and help families experiencing food insecurity throughout Quinte and Prince Edward County.

Our community is known for its beautiful landscapes, wineries and tourism, but many people don't realize another side of the story. According to local public health data, nearly one in four households in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties experiences food insecurity—meaning they don't always know where their next healthy meal will come from. Even more concerning, our region has one of the highest rates of household food insecurity in Ontario, and those numbers continue to rise.

At Rosehaven Yarn Shop, we've always believed that knitting is about community. It brings people together, creates friendships, and reminds us that even small acts, repeated many times, can create something beautiful.

That's exactly what we're hoping to do.

Throughout the Wooly Games weekend, people across Canada (and heck maybe the world) will be able to join the fun by:

• Watching the competition live on YouTube.

• Knitting the mystery shawl alongside the contestants from home.

• Joining watch parties hosted by yarn shops.

• Purchasing the official Wooly Games pattern and kits, with proceeds supporting food banks.

• Donating food or making financial contributions.

• Cheering on the contestants as they tackle challenges, surprises and creative twists along the way.

Every donation made through this campaign will help support local food banks serving families in Quinte and Prince Edward County.

If you want to support your own community that is fabulous too! Find your own local Food Bank and make a donation!

Whether you donate $10 or $1,000, every dollar helps provide meals, dignity & hope for someone in our community.

If you're unable to donate today, you can still make a huge difference by sharing this campaign with your friends, family and fellow fibre lovers.

Together, we can prove that a community connected by yarn can also be connected by kindness.

Thank you for helping us make the very first Wooly Games something truly extraordinary.
