Tax deductible
The Winston Solar Science Academy is an elite program for Winston High School Students interested in an in-depth, hands-on understanding of STEM science, technology, engineering, math - and alternative energy. Students build a car powered directly from the sun's energy from the ground-up...
welding an aluminum frame, assembling brakes and steering, wiring for batteries that are powered via solar arrays, and new this year... a telemetry system that will allow the team to orchestrate a strategy to use the sun's power most efficiently; much like the digital instrument board in your car. Visit Winston Solar for more information.
This summer, Winston Solar is powering up the arrays for a cross-country event in July 2018! We will be driving Sol-2.0 from Fort Worth, TX to Palmdale, CA, a 1,400 mile adventure!!! We will be competing with teams from around the country for miles completed and efficiency. Winston Solar needs financial assistance in funding a race to this scale. What we need:
- Solar Car Construction - $50,000
- Hotel - $40,000
- Travel (gas, food... 3 meals a day for HUNGRY teenagers, other necessities) - $60,000
The hands-on experience that comes with this adventure is worth every penny of $150,000... we are the engineers of tomorrow! Please consider funding our passion for the STEM subjects and alternative engineering!!!
