This is my four year old son Abel.
Abel was born 2 months premature, and later was diagnosed with cerebral palsy.
As a young single mother, this was the scariest thing anyone had ever told me. I felt very helpless, like I couldnt save him from this. But my son is a strong fighter. He works hard at his physical therapy, speech, and occupational therapy. Anytime anyone meets Abel he always leaves his mark. He is the sweetest, kindest little boy. However, since he is unable to use his legs to mobilize it has been a struggle as he is getting bigger. His wheelchair does not fit in our car, so taking him out places ,trick or treating, to the park, to the mall, anywhere is always difficult. We have always used a stroller, but he is to large for this now. We also live on long island where the norm is living in split level apartments, as we do. It is difficult for him to get around as there isnt much room
for his walker. His knees are always getting bruised from crawling and hopping around. I work a full time job, but struggle to save to get equipment, a used van, or anything to help him get around easier.  I am asking for help, which has NEVER been the easiest for me but this little boy deserves the most out of life.It breaks my heart to watch him see his older brother, and his friends be able to do things that he so desperately wants to do, but doesn’t have the right equipment to do it at his size.
