Surgery For Stormi

Hi, my name is Mieli Hansen and this is my family's new puppy Stormi. When I picked up Stormi on March 13, she was a healthy and energetic pup who showed amazing potential to be a very driven working dog. On Thursday morning, she ended up having diarrhea, vomiting and being very lethargic. I immediately took her to our wonderful local veterinarian office where they took her in right away and got to work trying to figure her out. With fluids and treatment for diarrhea/vomiting, Stormi started to perk up the rest of Thursday and by Friday was acting her usual rambunctious self. On Saturday morning, I woke to Stormi having a fever of 105.5 and I quickly took her to an emergency vet clinic. There they were able to stabilize her and she stayed stable until having to be moved to a 24 hour urgent care vet Monday morning due to only being open on the weekend. While at the second vet clinic, she stayed stable but they discovered pneumonia. After this diagnosis, she continued to be stable and the hospital didn't really have any answers for treatment. My close friends and family have been praying for a miracle as they know how much this pup means to me and my family. All along, I have been in contact with her breeder who has extensive knowledge and he has supported me through this whole time. After a discussion with him about her current care, we came to the conclusion that Stormi needed to be moved out of the current situation. As a last resort, I contacted Oregon State University Vet Hospital and they just happened to have a spot for Stormi the very next day. I moved Stormi to OSU on Wednesday where they got to work right away and diagnosed her with necrotic tissue of her lung. Other than the issue with the dead/dying tissue, Stormi is alert, eating on her own, on room air and shows huge potential for a very positive outcome with surgical removal of the tissue. The OSU staff has availability for Stormi's procedure on Monday March 27th and will need to be hospitalized up to surgery and most likely a short amount of days after. Our financial state has taken a hit with Stormi being treated on Thursday as an emergency with our local vet, and being hospitalized for 5 days and counting. My trust with the OSU staff is 110% higher than any of the other hospitals I've dealt with and I have high hopes after discussing her diagnosis with them. I can't imagine giving up on her now that we know she's got her whole life ahead of her. If you can donate to Stormi's case, it would mean the most. If you can only share Stormi's story, it would still mean the most. Thank You!
