THIS MORNING, OUR SURF SCHOOL WAS DESTROYED — WITH A CHAINSAW.

Weligama, Sri Lanka.

It’s with a heavy heart, full of sadness and anger, that we share these images.

Our beach surf school was torn down today by government orders.

No clear explanation. No warning.

Years of work. Gone in minutes.

Memories, community, connection — destroyed like they meant nothing.

Surfing in Weligama is more than just tourism.

It’s the identity of an entire community.

Hundreds of people depend on these beach surf schools to live, to feed their families, to dream.

And now? Their livelihood has been crushed.

We don’t understand.

We’re sad.

We’re angry.

How can something so meaningful, so vital, be destroyed like this?
