Jim has a lot of titles. Fire Marshal. Veteran. Purple Heart recipient. Sailor. Husband. Friend. Son. Cyclist. Amateur chef. Neighbor. Wine snob. But his most important title now is fighter so that soon, very soon he can add survivor to this list.
This week, Jim Finley (formerly Alunni) was diagnosed with leukemia.
To know Jim, is to love him. And if you’re reading this, you likely have a good Jim story! He is the guy everyone knows. Who we call when we need some help, have news to share or just want to chat. Jim and his wife Beth are the first to raise a hand and offer assistance — to anyone who needs it, no questions asked. And now, it’s our turn to return that love and gratitude.
Jim is in for the fight of his life — and to ensure he can put all his time, attention and strength into beating this, we’re raising funds to help with all the costs associated with fighting cancer. Any type of help, whatever you can give.
There’s a saying in Jim’s beloved Chagrin Falls — it takes a Village. Our Village. Today, we’re all that village. To come together and support Jim and Beth. A man who has selflessly helped others for most of his adult life, from serving in the Iraq War, then as a firefighter turned Fire Marshal, a role he took after surviving a suicide attack in Iraq.
Today — and until he beats this— we are now Team Finley. Jim and Beth are not ones to ever ask for help, so we’re asking for them. The Chagrin Valley Fire Department is overseeing this fundraising initiative; all monies raised will go directly towards his fight.
