Honoring Alvin @ Westlake Walgreens

I saw the "Nextdoor" comments with everyone praising how wonderful Alvin that works at the Westlake Walgreens is.  Truly....there is no sweeter man in our community, which is evident by the notes over 100 people left--from customers, strangers and co-workers.  It was suggested someone do more than say how wonderful he is and suggested a GoFundMe campaign. I thought I'd take on the chore.  Alvin's 97 year old mother died on Alvin's birthday this past week.  What a great opportunity for us to come together and show appreciation for him, and do it in honor or his mother.  Having done a GoFundMe before, it's a bit of a chore and I have to disclose how I will do this to make it the least effort to Alvin.  ALL FUNDS COLLECTED will go directly to ME and I will give Alvin the total amount.  This will save him from getting the IRS form they send, etc.....I will take the tax hit and cover the taxes due, in addition to the money my family will pledge towards the campaign.  GoFundMe will only release the money to the person the campaign is for unless it is clearly spelled out that someone else (me) will be taking the funds.  So, please let this serve as the notice that funds will be sent to me (Cord Shiflet) and I will immediately give an envelope of cash to Alvin and sign every name that contributes to the campaign.  I see Alvin 2x a week....with 4 young kids, we seems to live at Walgreens.  Let's support our neighbor and friend and give back a little of the friendliness he gives to us every day.  Thanks everyone!
