I’m creating this GoFundMe during one of the most heartbreaking times our family has ever experienced. Our beloved father, Pablo Vargas, who just celebrated his 50th birthday last week, suffered a sudden and unexpected medical emergency that has forever changed our lives.

On Thursday afternoon, Pablo went into cardiac arrest at work. A coworker immediately called 911, and EMS arrived approximately 5–7 minutes later. When they arrived, he was found to be in cardiac arrest. CPR was initiated, and they were able to bring him back. Tragically, he went into cardiac arrest two more times — once during transport to the hospital and again upon arrival — and was resuscitated each time.

Due to the severity of his condition, Pablo was transferred to St. Bernardine Medical Center for a higher level of care. Doctors later discovered that he had been seizing continuously throughout this entire event. Despite aggressive treatment with multiple anti-seizure medications, his seizures have been extremely difficult to control, with ongoing breakthrough activity.

He remained in the ICU for a week and passed peacefully whilst surrounded by his family, at 11:28pm on Christmas Day, 12/25/2025.

This loss was completely unexpected. Pablo was only 50 years old, actively working, and had no major health concerns that would have ever prepared us for something like this. While we are doing everything we can to support one another emotionally, the financial burden associated with funeral expenses and other remaining obligations has added another layer of stress during an already unimaginable time.

We are asking for help to cover:

    •    Funeral and memorial expenses

    •    Remaining personal and household expenses

    •    Other unforeseen costs related to this sudden loss
