Coen's Liver Fund
Coen Nelson Osbaldiston......Our Life changing baby
Just not in the way we had expected, Coen Born 26/5/2011,
At 5 weeks old Coen was diagnosed with Biliary Artesia A Rare Life-Threatening Disease that affects approx 1 in 20000 newborns & our lives were changed forever.
After A Bone Marrow Biopsy & A Liver Biopsy were performed for diagnosis, Coen underwent a Kasai Proceedure in an attempt to obtain Bile drainage from his Liver, unfortunatly Coens Liver had already been permanently damaged & he will require a Liver Transplant.
Coen requires a regime of Medications & Medicated formula throughout the day & night to avoid Malnutrition due to his Malabsorbtion of essential Fats & Vitamins, also to try to alleviate the severe itch he experiences caused by the bile build-up in his system.
Coen regularly attends Clinics, his bloods are taken to monitor his levels & he has Hospital admissions to receive Albumin Transfusions or Lipids Infusions depending on the results....of Pathology.
Living in a country town when Coen was diagnosed has required the family to relocate closer to the Royal Childrens Hospital where Coen receives treatment & in the future a new Liver....
Coen's condition has been all consuming financially & emotionally, leaving his family drained by all accounts.
Apart from all of this Coen is a gorgeous little boy with a beautiful smile, & is obviously the centre of our universe.
Thanks from Coen's Family
