Vivien Rolton - Donations for Sharnbrook Tennis Club
Donation protected
To commemorate the passing of Vivien Rolton, we would like to raise funds for the place that made her the happiest - Sharnbrook Tennis Club.
The Rolton family is pleased to personally DOUBLE the final amount reached on this fundraise!
Alongside the bowling green, football pitch, cricket pitch, village hall and Sharnbrook Playing Field Club, Sharnbrook Tennis Club is beautifully placed and part of a large, thriving pro-active social and sports hub for the village.
Viv and her husband, Clive, joined the club in 1973 and were the driving force for the club to enter the Bedfordshire County Leagues in 1974. Forty-one years later, the club is still going strong and still playing in these leagues!
Since then, the club has transformed from a facility with no lighting, one lawn court and what we can only describe as as a gritted road made into two hard courts, has now transformed into three all-weather courts complemented with floodlighting.
The all-weather courts enable play all year round, but the floodlights allowed play to take place in the evenings, which made a big difference for people or kids wanting to play after work or school during the week. A picture on this site shows the grand opening of the floodlights in 1988, presented by Sir Trevor Brooking, of Sport England, and Elizabeth Luder, the Mayor of Bedford.
The Club is now raising funds for the replacement of these floodlights and the Rolton family is delighted to be involved in raising funds for Vivien's Number One Happy Place.
All proceeds raised will be passed onto Sharnbrook Tennis Club.
They are a Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) and registered with the HMRC.
No matter how large or small, we are grateful for any donation towards this lovely and friendly club that Viv absolutely adored.
The Rolton family is pleased to DOUBLE the final amount reached on this fundraise!
Thank you.
Love Clive Rolton, Mick Rolton & David Rolton
