Help Stichting Met de Noorderzon secure and protect a 40-acre forest area

Stichting Met de Noorderzon is committed to nature conservation and supporting local communities in the Netherlands, Spain, and Tanzania. Sustainability, local involvement, and respect for culture and nature are at the heart of everything we do.

What happened?

After a forest fire in Pangani (Tanzania), we planted mango, passion fruit, and coconut trees, along with native trees whose leaves are loved by monkeys.

To make this possible, we have already purchased 10 acres (approx. 4 hectares) of land.

The result?

The monkeys have returned.

Birds, small mammals, and insects have found a home again.

Nature is coming back to life.

But… this is only the beginning.

Our goal

We want to expand this area to 40 acres, creating a permanent and protected habitat for both people and wildlife.

If we do not act, the land will be bought by investors who see it not as nature, but as a profit opportunity. This leads to deforestation, loss of biodiversity, and displacement of local communities.

Every square meter we save is a victory.

How is the money managed?

All funds go exclusively through Stichting Met de Noorderzon, which oversees and controls all spending. No money is transferred directly to local individuals or companies.

All activities are carried out:

under the supervision of a Met de Noorderzon representative,

in collaboration with village elders,

with involvement of the Ward District Manager,

together with the director of Go With the Northern Sun (the accommodation) and the Manjakiti (village chief).

In addition, day and night guards have been appointed to protect the area.

Why this matters so much

Local and international investors see financial opportunities — but nature and local communities pay the price.

Help Stichting Met de Noorderzon een bosgebied van 40 acre veilig te stellen!

Stichting Met de Noorderzon zet zich in voor natuurbehoud en lokale gemeenschappen in Nederland, Spanje en Tanzania. Duurzaamheid, lokale betrokkenheid en respect voor cultuur en natuur staan bij ons centraal.

Wat is er gebeurd?

Na een bosbrand in Pangani (Tanzania) hebben wij mango-, passievrucht- en kokospalmen geplant, samen met bomen waarvan apen dol zijn op de bladeren.

We hebben hiervoor al 10 acre (ongeveer 4 hectare) grond aangekocht.

Het resultaat?

De apen zijn teruggekeerd. Vogels, kleine zoogdieren en insecten hebben weer een thuis. De natuur leeft weer op.

Maar… dit is pas het begin.

Ons doel

Wij willen dit gebied uitbreiden naar 40 acre en zo een blijvend leefgebied veiligstellen voor mens én dier.

Als wij dit niet doen, wordt het land opgekocht door investeerders die het niet zien als natuurgebied, maar als winstobject. Dat betekent: ontbossing, verlies van biodiversiteit en verdringing van lokale gemeenschappen.

Elke m² die wij redden, is een overwinning.

Wat leeft er al in het gebied?

Hoe wordt het geld beheerd?

Het geld gaat volledig via Stichting Met de Noorderzon, die het beheer en de besteding controleert. Er wordt geen geld rechtstreeks overgemaakt aan lokale personen of bedrijven.

Alle werkzaamheden worden uitgevoerd:

Daarnaast zijn er dag- en nachtwachten aangesteld om het gebied te beschermen.

Waarom dit zo belangrijk is



Binnen- en buitenlandse investeerders zien kansen om geld te verdienen, maar daarvoor moeten natuur en lokale gemeenschappen wijken.

Dat hoeft niet.

Dit is een kans om samen te zeggen: dit gebied blijft natuur.

Geen bulldozers. Geen ontbossing.

Wel: bomen, dieren, rust, toekomst.
