Memory of Drew Busby, Hearts Legend
Donation protected
In July 2022, we lost Drew Busby a former football hero and landlord of The Waverley Bar in Dumbarton to Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
We did not expect it. We had just a week between diagnosis and his passing.
When we first heard Drew had Hodgkin's Lymphoma, it was something we had all heard of, but had no idea what it was.
We had to learn fast....
In my Dad's final week, despite being in much pain and rapid decline he achieved much including Gail and grandson Lyle returning from Oz, as well as coming home from hospital and being with his loved ones and dog Meg for his final hours.
I am not going to lie, we are still struggling to come to terms with what happened and the speed of it all.
So, this Friday, the 27th of January, memory of this great man, some of the regulars in the Waverley Bar will be hosting a charity night in memory of the legend, Drew Busby.
Live music from 'The Syd James Experience & Friends'
Donations can be made at the door or here, with proceeds going to the Vale of Leven Hospital Oncology Unit.
Also this weekend, on Saturday, Drew’s son, Alan, his niece Cheryl and friend Cara will be walking the London Marathon in his memory. They want to make a difference and are very proud to be doing this walk in his memory for Lymphoma Action, the UK’s only charity dedicated to lymphoma, the fifth most common cancer. Their work drives improvements in the diagnosis, treatment, and aftercare of lymphoma
Thank you to the organisers, the walkers and for any donations received!
