Help Mary Recover From Her Recent Stroke

Hi there!

Chelsey and Nicole writing here for our mother, Mary. Mary suffered from a stroke on September 22 and was in the hospital for 15 days in total. She is home now using her feisty spirit and working hard in her therapy appointments to get to a new baseline of normalcy and functionality! If you know Mary you know she doesn't give up easily and she has fought hard to be able to make it home.

Chelsey has come home from Oregon to stay with Mary and Jerry during this transitional time, so that Mary has someone around throughout the days as she remembers tasks at hand and to better communicate her thoughts. Jerry is continuing to work to support our family.

She is currently doing speech, occupational and physical therapy to get back to normal. Each of these therapies require a lot of concentration to build new nueral pathways of Mary's brain. The normal pathways for speech and some motor skills have "broken" from the stroke, so she is working very hard at therapy to relearn how to say words, write, and eventually read again. Once this is accomplished we may have a good idea if she will be able to drive, work again, etc. We are looking at 4-6 months of therapies at this moment. Time will show us the way and our big goal is to have her back to regular tasks by July when Nicole and her fiancee, Sean, get married.

Mary and Jerry have been deeply involved in the community where they live in Minnesota. Mary is an active member of the St. Augusta Fire Department Auxiliary, where she has donated time and energy supporting others in the community since 2016.

We are looking for support from our friends, family and the amazing community of central Minnesota to help pick up some of the extra bills and finances that have landed in our laps at this time.
