On the 20th of August, I brought home two French Bulldogs, Ronnie and Reggie, as a surprise gift for my 5-year-old son. He’s been asking for a dog for the longest time, and I wanted him to have the chance to grow up with them as his brothers.

Unfortunately, things turned out very differently from what I was told. Both dogs arrived malnourished, and when I took them to the vet, I discovered they are actually 2 years old rather than the 5 years I had been led to believe. On top of that, Ronnie was extremely unwell.

The vet explained that Ronnie had a severe, untreated eye infection from his previous home. Sadly, the only option was surgery to remove the eye. Because the RSPCA and PDSA are not taking on new patients, I had no choice but to register him at a private vet. They kindly went ahead with the operation immediately, even though I couldn’t pay upfront.

Now, I urgently need to raise £1,047.98 to cover Ronnie’s vet bill. The practice has given me only a few days to pay before it is passed to debt collection on Monday.

As a single parent on benefits, I cannot manage this alone. Ronnie is recovering well and deserves to live a happy, healthy life with his new family, alongside Reggie and my son.
