Unite with Andrew, Zana & Silas to Beat Cancer

Hey friends, we are seeking support for our amazing friends as they begin one of the biggest climbs of their lives. This March, Andrew received the life changing diagnosis of Stage 3 Colorectal Cancer. Thankfully, preliminary tests have shown the cancer hasn’t metastasized and become Stage 4.. The doctors are confident, due to his age and otherwise good health, that with an aggressive treatment plan the cancer can be downsized and removed.

The treatment plan will begin with an intensive approach consisting of three months of aggressive chemotherapy. After a two week rest period, a five week long course of chemotherapy combined with radiation will be conducted. The plan is for a one month recovery after the chemo/radiation therapies and then surgery to remove the remaining tumor and affected tissue. It will take approximately 1-2 months to recover from the surgery.

Last fall, Andrew and his wife, Zana, and young son, Silas, moved to Central Oregon which makes supporting them even more important as they are far from their families and the Montana community they know and love. Andrew has been the sole financial provider for the family while Zana has been concentrating on raising wonderful Silas. Further complicating matters, at the time of diagnosis Andrew was in a transition between employment in the Geohazard Mitigation industry.

As the intensity of treatment will require both Andrew and Zana to be out of work for at least the next 8 months, we are aiming to take the burden of monthly living costs off the list of things they have to focus upon and worry about. We are hoping with this fundraiser to cover the costs of their mortgage, utilities, food, ancillary medical costs, and personal expenses for the next 8 months. With the help of their families and their network of friends and co-workers throughout the climbing, skiing, art, and geohazard communities this mountain too will be overcome.
