Hi my name is Kristina and I wanted to start this fundraiser to help my brother out after experiencing life threatening medical issues. Some of you may know already but if not my brother is 47 years old and on March 12th he had a major heart attack that almost took his life several times. After spending about a week here in Columbus admitted to Ohio health’s ICU, he was life flighted to Cleveland Clinic. He spent 5 weeks on life support, over came pneumonia, several blood clots, multiple infections, procedures where he coded twice, allergic reactions to blood transfusions, and I’m sure I’m missing a few things. He is now off life support and after several weeks of rehab he was able to get a left ventricle assisted device (LVAD) open heart surgery. He is a fighter! However, he still has a long road of recovery ahead of him working on rehab to help build his strength due to being very debilitated after being on ventilator so long. He truly is a miracle! We are hoping he will be discharged from Cleveland Clinic in the next week or so to a rehab facility where he can continue to recover, get stronger, and learn his new normal. Unfortunately his employer let him go last week and as you can expect has caused great stress.
