Hello, my name is Oscar. I am 43 years old. I am an orchestral trumpet player, for more than 15 years I was part of the Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra, representing Venezuela in thousands of concerts around the world. Today I need your help, due to the economic situation my country is going through, I cannot afford the materials for the arthrodesis I need for my spine surgery. I have been diagnosed with a lumbar disc herniation at the L4-L5 level, accompanied by grade I spondylolisthesis at the L5-S1 level. This has caused severe compression of the lumbar nerve roots, causing constant pain, loss of mobility, and paresthesia. My condition has been evaluated by the medical team, who has indicated the need for imminent spinal surgery.

The procedure requires:

• L4-L5 discectomy

• Decompressive laminectomy

• Placement of instrumentation (screws, rods, a cross connector, and a specialized cage)

For several months, I have been suffering from severe lower back pain, which has progressively intensified, radiating to my left lower limb and accompanied by neurological symptoms such as tingling, loss of sensation, and difficulty moving normally.

Furthermore, for a year now, I have been experiencing unexplained urinary symptoms: difficulty initiating urination, a sensation of incomplete emptying, pain and burning, and taking a long time to empty my bladder. After several urological studies, everything points to these symptoms being related to the nerve compression caused by my herniated disc, which increases the urgency of surgery to avoid irreversible damage.

Unfortunately, I do not have sufficient financial resources to cover the costs of this medical intervention. The procedure, along with preoperative examinations, hospitalization, and recovery, involves a significant amount that I cannot afford at this time. I have sold the few valuables I had to begin raising the money, but I still have a significant portion missing.

Soy músico trompetista y durante más de 15 años formé parte de la Orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolívar, representando a Venezuela en miles de conciertos alrededor del mundo. Hoy necesito su ayuda. Debido a la situación económica que atraviesa mi país, no puedo costear los materiales para la artrodesis que necesito para mi cirugía de columna. Me han diagnosticado una hernia discal lumbar a nivel de L4-L5, acompañada de espondilolistesis de grado I a nivel de L5-S1. Esto ha causado una compresión severa de las raíces nerviosas lumbares, lo que me provoca dolor constante, pérdida de movilidad y parestesias. El equipo médico ha evaluado mi condición y ha indicado la necesidad de una cirugía de columna urgente.

El procedimiento requiere:

• Discectomía L4-L5

• Laminectomía descompresiva

• Colocación de instrumental (tornillos, varillas, conector cruzado y caja especializada)

Llevo varios meses sufriendo un fuerte dolor lumbar, que se ha intensificado progresivamente, irradiado a la extremidad inferior izquierda y acompañado de síntomas neurológicos como hormigueo, pérdida de sensibilidad y dificultad para moverme con normalidad.

Además, desde hace un año, he estado experimentando síntomas urinarios inexplicables: dificultad para iniciar la micción, sensación de vaciado incompleto, dolor y ardor, y tardanza en vaciar la vejiga. Tras varios estudios urológicos, todo apunta a que estos síntomas están relacionados con la compresión nerviosa causada por mi hernia discal, lo que aumenta la urgencia de la cirugía para evitar daños irreversibles.

Desafortunadamente, no cuento con recursos económicos suficientes para cubrir los costos de esta intervención médica. El procedimiento, junto con los exámenes preoperatorios, la hospitalización y la recuperación, supone un gasto considerable que no puedo afrontar en este momento. He vendido mis pocas pertenencias para empezar a recaudar fondos, pero aún me falta una parte importante.
