UN POZZO PER VIVERE A CHIBUMAGWA - ''Ogni goccia è vita''

Cari amici/conoscenti,

Dopo aver viaggiato tanto nella mia vita, credevo di aver visto tante realtà diverse, ma nulla mi ha toccato così nel profondo come le settimane trascorse in Tanzania.

Durante il volontariato ho incontrato bambini orfani, abbandonati, malati di AIDS e HIV… ma ciò che non potrò mai dimenticare è il villaggio di Chibumagwa: Un luogo arido, dove la vita è una lotta quotidiana.

Il villaggio è abitato principalmente da donne e bambini, costretti a sopravvivere raccogliendo il sale come unico lavoro. Non c’è acqua, non c’è coltivazione, non c’è futuro.

Ho visto con i miei occhi bambini assetati scavare con le mani nel letto di un fiume secco per raccogliere poche gocce rimaste. Quelle stesse buche servivano prima agli animali per bere, e solo se restava qualcosa, allora gli stessi abitanti potevano dissetarsi.

Ho visto bambini bere da pozzanghere sporche.

Ho visto la sete diventare disperazione.

Questa immagine non mi lascia più.

Per questo ho deciso di non voltarmi dall’altra parte: voglio fare la mia parte, e vi chiedo di fare lo stesso.

L'OBIETTIVO E' COSTRUIRE UN POZZO PER CHIBUMAGWA.

Un pozzo significa vita: significa acqua pulita per i bambini, possibilità di coltivare la terra, dignità, futuro.

A fine ottobre/inizio novembre torneremo personalmente in Tanzania.

Siamo già in contatto con un’associazione locale specializzata nella costruzione di pozzi: insieme a loro renderemo possibile questo sogno.

Porteremo con noi ciò che saremo riusciti a raccogliere e ci impegneremo a seguire i lavori del pozzo, passo dopo passo, aggiornando tutti voi con foto e video.

Ogni contributo, anche il più piccolo, può fare la differenza.

Dear friends/acquaintances,

After traveling extensively throughout my life, I believed I had seen many different realities, but nothing touched me as deeply as the weeks I spent in Tanzania.

During my volunteer work, I met orphaned, abandoned, and AIDS and HIV-infected children... but what I will never forget is the village of Chibumagwa: an arid place where life is a daily struggle.

The village is inhabited mainly by women and children, forced to survive by collecting salt as their only source of income. There is no water, no crops, no future.

I saw with my own eyes thirsty children digging with their hands in the bed of a dry river to collect the few drops that remained. Those same holes were once used by animals to drink, and only if there was anything left could the inhabitants quench their thirst.

I saw children drinking from dirty puddles.

I saw thirst turn into despair.

This image haunts me.

That is why I have decided not to look the other way: I want to do my part, and I ask you to do the same.

THE GOAL IS TO BUILD A WELL FOR CHIBUMAGWA.

A well means life: it means clean water for children, the possibility of cultivating the land, dignity, a future.

At the end of October/beginning of November, we will return to Tanzania in person.

We are already in contact with a local association that specializes in building wells: together with them, we will make this dream come true.

We will take with us what we have managed to collect and we will commit ourselves to following the work on the well, step by step, updating you all with photos and videos.

Every contribution, no matter how small, can make a difference.
