I’m Running the London Marathon

I’m running the 2024 London Marathon! To give you an idea of how unlikely this is, my mum has already started calling me saying that she's worried that I’m going to 'try' and run a marathon because in her words….I’m not a marathon runner. (Please note the above photo is of my state after a 40 minute 5K)......But come April 2024 I will be a marathon runner- (hopefully)!!!!

I’m running the marathon for Anthony Nolan, a charity that is incredibly close to my family’s hearts. If it wasn’t for Anthony Nolan my Dad wouldn’t still be here after being diagnosed with Mantle Cell Lymphoma in 2005. Because of the work that Anthony Nolan do, after a gruelling battle with leukaemia and one failed bone marrow transplant, Anthony Nolan stepped in and my Dad was matched with his incredible donor, Matthias. He received a bone marrow transplant in 2006 that saved his life. He was fortunate to go on and trace Matthias down and 17 years on he and his wife Christine are members of the family.

The Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Register was the first of its kind. Today, it’s helped 22,000 people receive a lifesaving transplant. Before this, finding an unrelated stem cell donor was virtually impossible. Since 2010 joining the Anthony Nolan register is as simple as giving a saliva sample - no needles involved!

Knowing that the money I raise running that Marathon will go to such an incredible charity is the only thing that will get me through!
