One week ago I met Gordon by chance. He walked by High Strung Violins & Guitars and noticed an instrument in the window. He walked in, picked up a guitar and started playing the most amazing guitar riffs!
I quickly setup a videocamera and recorded us playing together; that's us in the intro of the video. A week later I decided to share his story.
Gordon is a recovering alcoholic. He's also a student of the prestigious Berkley College of Music. He has performed throughout the world, but much like his music idols, he abused drugs and alcohol.
At 52, Gordon reached his turning point. He is currenly getting treatment at the Urban Ministries of Durham.
He doesn't own a guitar, but I want to change that. I want to help raise money to buy Gordon an instrument he can be proud of.
A new guitar will also symbolize a new life for Gordon. He wants to share his music with the world… I say, lets let him!
Additional money raised will be used to purchase new instruments for our public schools. Lets help keep music in our communities!
