Nächste Woche erfülle ich mir einen besonderen Traum:

Ich werde beim Internationalen Bosporus-Querungsschwimmen in Istanbul starten – 6,5 Kilometer von Asien nach Europa, durch die starke Strömung des Bosporus.

... nicht das ich so etwas jemals zuvor gewagt hätte!

( Hoffe ich komme auch an ! )

Doch diesmal schwimme ich nicht nur für mich, sondern für einen Herzenszweck: die Flüchtlingshilfe der Malteser.

Auf der Flucht vor Krieg, Verfolgung und Armut wagen viele Menschen – darunter auch Kinder – gefährliche Wege über das Meer. Zu viele von ihnen ertrinken. Die Malteser setzen sich unermüdlich dafür ein, Flüchtlinge zu versorgen, ihnen Schutz, medizinische Hilfe und neue Hoffnung zu geben.

Ich engagiere mich seit vielen Jahren für die Malteser und weiß: Jede Spende, egal wie klein, kann Leben retten.

Hilf mir, aus jedem Schwimmzug auch einen Schritt in Richtung Menschlichkeit zu machen.

Next week, I will fulfil a very special dream:

I am taking part in the International Bosphorus Cross-Continental Swim in Istanbul – 6.5 kilometres from Asia to Europe, against the powerful currents of the Bosphorus.

Not that I dared anything like this before....

But this time, I’m not swimming just for myself – I’m swimming for a cause that is close to my heart: the Malteser Refugee Relief.

Fleeing war, persecution, and poverty, countless people – including children – risk their lives crossing the sea. Too many never make it to safety. The Maltesers work tirelessly to provide refugees with protection, medical care, and a chance for a new beginning.

I have been committed to the Maltesers’ work for many years and I know: Every donation, no matter how small, can save lives.

Please help me turn every stroke into a step towards humanity.
