10 years! time to celebrate and get a new leg!

Hello everyone,

For those who do not know me, my name is Tyler Young. I am a left leg below-knee amputee and have been for almost 10 years. That piece of information is important to this fundraiser, but first, I would like to share my story. On July 18th, 2015, exactly one month before my 21st birthday, I was involved in a motorcycle accident that resulted in the amputation of my left lower leg. The details of that accident are gruesome and heartbreaking, but what followed, some would say, was even worse. My healing process was grueling, painful, and longer than anyone should have to endure. I suffered through countless procedures, fought sepsis twice, and underwent 3 revisions on my amputated limb. I lost count of how many surgeries I underwent after 30 but would estimate I am now in the high 70s. That's the sad part. The positive part? I survived!

Now, it's coming up on my 10-year anniversary of that accident and to commemorate all this madness I survived, myself and a very close friend of mine, Steven Lindsley, are planning a motorcycle trip across the northeastern US. Possibly further if the money can be raised. We decided on a slogan for this ride, "the more we make, the further we'll go." Meaning the more money we get through donations to pay for gas, food, and lodging, the more places we will visit, more memories we will make, and more miles we will travel.

Also, I am unfortunately in need of a new prosthesis, and struggles with health insurance and the general cost of life in this day and age have made acquiring one difficult. Luckily, my current prosthetic leg will suffice for a short time. With that being said, any funds left over from this fundraiser will be used for that purpose.
