Tribute to Andrea: A Life of Strength and Love

Honoring the Life and Legacy of Andrea Cottman (June 6, 1944 – April 9, 2025)

It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we celebrate the incredible life of Andrea Cottman — a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and a true friend to all who knew her.

Andrea lived a life of strength, grace, and service. She was a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., a dedicated Circlette, a cherished Sag Harbor "Beach Potato", and a founding member of SANS Sag Harbor, where she championed the preservation and celebration of Black history and community in Sag Harbor.

Professionally, Andrea devoted her career to the education and empowerment of others as a Special Education Administrator, touching countless lives with her compassion, advocacy, and leadership. Personally, she was a true Warrior Queen — a Lupus fighter, a liver transplant survivor, and an inspiration to all who witnessed her resilience and faith.

Andrea's spirit was as wide as the ocean she loved in Sag Harbor and as enduring as the community she built around her.

In honor of Andrea’s remarkable life, we are organizing memorial celebrations in both New York City and her beloved Sag Harbor, her special place of peace and joy. The New York memorial will be held on May 10th 2025 from 2pm to 6 pm at Riverside Church. The Sag Harbor Memorial will be held ON June 7th 2025.

We are reaching out to friends, family, and loved ones to ask for your support in helping us honor her legacy. Contributions will go directly toward the costs of memorial services, travel, venues, and other expenses needed to give Andrea the beautiful and heartfelt tributes she deserves.
