Action Against Detention and Deportations, a coalition of groups across the UK, have come together to organise demos at immigration detention centres on Sunday 4th and Saturday 10th September, to show solidarity with people in detention threatened with deportation to Rwanda. We need your help to make this happen.

On 14th June, the government attempted to forcibly deport refugees on a plane to Rwanda. After widespread protests, condemnation and legal interventions, they were unsuccessful, and the last person was taken off the flight at the last minute. The Home Office is currently planning the next flight to Rwanda, and politicians have made clear their intention to drive forward with the plan, described by organisers as “racist, deliberately punishing, and illegal”.

As the legal battle goes on, people will be once again waiting in terror inside detention centres to find out whether they will be expelled to Rwanda, separated from their family members and communities, and denied the right to claim asylum in the UK.

We want to get thousands of people to the gates of the detention centres to let people detained there know that they are not alone and that we stand against this hateful policy and every aspect of the hostile environment.

Detention centres are deliberately located in places that are difficult to reach, ensuring that people held there are isolated and cut off from potential support.

We won’t let this stop us! Please help us show solidarity with everyone in detention before the next Rwanda flight by chipping in for the cost of hiring coaches to take people to the demonstrations.

If any money is left over, it will be donated to SOAS Detainee Support and the Solidarity Knows No Borders Network for their work supporting people in detention and opposing the hostile environment.
