Tractor Town Macomb brings a focus to tractor and rural roadway safety, celebrates the rural roots of the region, and extends Macomb, Illinois’ developing arts corridor.
Tractor Town Macomb has taken a vintage Farmall H tractor and bedazzled it with mosaic and stained glass as well as LED lights to be a unique reminder for drivers in our community to be aware of their surroundings and to watch for oversized, slower-moving vehicles- it could save a life!
The Tractor Town Macomb tractor is the first tractor anywhere to be mosaicked and is a unique and beautiful piece of art that pays homage to a beloved community member and to our community’s past, present and future. The tractor itself has depictions of historic barns and farms of McDonough County as well as Illinois crops to name just a few things that can be seen.
To date, there are over 1000 artist hours and 1200 volunteer hours in the mosaic Farmall. The materials used to create the designs are stained glass, mirror, mosaic tiles, and marble. It has been grouted with a superflex grout and has a custom tinted, hand-painted red epoxy on top of the grout.
It will be located at a major intersection that is visible from the AMTRAK line and near Bold Brew Coffee an Forgottonia Brewing. Here it will contribute to the growing arts corridor and serve as a unique tourism draw to our community.
The tractor will be available for events that promote the arts and agricultural issues and will serve as a platform to distribute mental health resources.
We have been overwhelmed with the generous support by our community and beyond for this project yet we need your help to bring Tractor Town Macomb to fruition! Please consider contributing to this worthy project.
