Due to Covid-19, Todd was admitted to the hospital on November 15th, 2020 and was placed on a ventilator on November 20th. He received a tracheotomy on December 16th and remains in ICU at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. It is unclear when Todd will be released from ICU, but once he is released he will need to continue to recover at a long term care facility. He will need physical therapy and hopefully get weaned off the ventilator. His doctors have set his families expectations that Todd will need to be hospitalized for a minimum of 2 - 3 more months. This horrible virus has turned this family upside down in a blink of an eye both emotionally and financially. Taking their household down to one income is making it difficult to keep up with bills and expenses, and Todd will be unable to work for quite some time.
