To help pay for a DOTA PET scan

Hello~my name is Brenda and my family and I are raising funds to assist in paying for a scan that is needed but not covered by my sister Maria’s insurance.

Here’s Maria’s story~

Last summer my sister had acute diverticulitis. This was diagnosed by a CT scan. Unfortunately, this scan revealed more than that. She was found to have a neuroendocrine tumor in her GI tract. After much testing a liver MRI (which fortunately came back ok) happened to catch the left lower portion of her breast. This revealed two tumors that came back positive for breast cancer. She is now fighting two primary cancers!! Since this all began, right before Christmas, she has undergone a bilateral mastectomy and is currently in the reconstruction process. However, we have not been able to move forward in treating this GI tumor because of the insurance issues in paying for this much needed scan! This is why we are reaching out to our family, friends and community to help spread the word to help Maria get this scan so that she can move forward with beating this second cancer!
