Hello,
We are trying to raise over £12,000 to give Alex, a much-loved little boy, a life-changing gift: the ability to communicate more independently using eye-gaze technology.
Alex is a child with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), and he is nonverbal. He understands communication more than many people realise, and he already communicates in his own ways — through facial expressions, movement, and the look in his eyes. With the right equipment and support, Alex’s eye gaze can become his voice.
These communication aids come at a high cost, which is why we need to raise £12,000+.
Why this matters
Right now, even the simplest messages rely on adults interpreting Alex’s needs, asking questions such as:
* Is he in pain or uncomfortable?
* Is he thirsty, tired, or anxious?
* Does he want a break, a favourite song, or to join an activity?
* Most importantly: **“Yes” or “No.”**
Eye-gaze communication will help Alex to:
* Tell us his needs and preferences
* Make his own choices (food, activities, people, music, stories)
* Take part in learning and social moments
* Feel more independent, understood, and confident
What your donation will fund
We are raising money for:
* An eye-gaze communication device/tablet with specialist communication software
* Mounting/positioning equipment so it can be used safely and comfortably
* Set-up and training so school staff and family can support Alex consistently
* A personalised communication profile so the device reflects Alex’s world (favourites, routines, people, feelings)
Every donation — big or small — will bring Alex closer to having a reliable way to say:
**“I choose.” “I need help.” “I’m not okay.” “More please.” “Stop.” “Yes.” “No.”**
Please donate if you can, and share this page to help us reach our £12,000+ goal.
Thank you for helping us give Alex a voice.
