Themi Orphanage

Supporting Themi Orphanage in Tanzania – Christine Cameron & David McIlwraith

This October, we are visiting Tanzania and will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. During our time in Tanzania, we are going to be visiting Themi Orphanage in Arusha to spend time with staff and the children, this orphanage is also supported by our trekking company, Ian Taylor Trekking. They are currently supporting 26 children aged between 6 and 12 years old. 16 of the kids live at the orphanage full time, the other 10 are supported during the day and this is allowing them to remain with their families, who otherwise couldn’t cope.

Themi Orphanage is dedicated to supporting, housing, educating, and nurturing orphaned children in a region where many young people face economic challenges and limited opportunities. The orphanage provides a safe, caring environment, helping children overcome adversity and grow. Funding is essential to ensure the children receive the care and opportunities they deserve.

We feel very strongly that our visit should be about giving back to the country that is welcoming us. We will be making our own personal donation, and we would love to invite family, colleagues and friends to join us if you’d like.

When we visit the children, we will get the opportunity to spend time with them and hopefully have some fun and make them smile, we will also:

• Hand-deliver the donation on behalf of everyone who contributes.

• Take along some gifts (such as school supplies, books, simple toys, any ideas welcome please).

• Share photos and updates (where appropriate) so you can see the joy your generosity brings.

If you’d like to donate, no matter the amount, please know that it will make a real difference to the lives of these children.

Together, we can leave a small but lasting impact to these children in Tanzania who have had a tough start in their lives. Thank you so much for helping us to hopefully make a small difference to these children.
