A rescue mission to help a family of sphynx cats!!
Earlier on this week I saw online that a woman was getting rid of a ‘breeding pair’ of sphynx cats along with a 14week old kitten from a previous litter that they hadn’t been able to sell on yet. The mum was pregnant again & due very soon. The woman was asking for very little money for them & wasn't interested about where or what situation they were going to be taken to.
I was informed that the mummy cat had only had 2 kittens in her past litter(one of which they’d already sold) & from what I can gather they no longer saw the mum as a profitable animal & due to this they wanted rid. Unfortunately this is very common practice within the breeding industry & I couldn’t see these poor angels end up in the wrong hands again.
They were being kept in shocking and heartbreaking conditions where they were completely deprived of proper nourishment and care. There were also many other animals at the property, some of which were stacked up in dirty cages. My biggest regret is that I couldn’t of saved more, but a complaint to the correct authorities is in progress.
When I got to the property, the mummy cat was in labour - the woman who no longer wanted this sweet precious girlie told me I had to take her there & then as she had a birthday party to go to the next day, she didn’t have time for this & she was more interested in collecting the cake for her event tomorrow. I took the labouring mum, dad & 14 week week old kitten away with me as I COULD NOT leave them in these conditions any longer. The mummy had her kittens in the back of my car coming down the M6, not an ideal situation for anyone. She is now with me at home, she has had 4 beautiful, healthy kittens & is doing so amazingly.
Daddy cat(Mr Wrinkles) has some serious health concerns including what is thought to be a large growth/infection on his nose, conjunctivitis & two very poorly paws - one of which is now bandaged up.
Mummy cat(Mrs Wrinkles) has severe scarring around her hips, head & neck which looking like she’s acquired during excessive mating. She is absolutely exhausted as she has not long given birth to her previous litter & has had to do it all again.
The older kitten(Baby Wrinkles) also has conjunctivitis & a cold.
As their health conditions are significantly worse than I’d expected I need help to get them back to optimal health. I primarily need assistance with vet bills.
Mr Wrinkles has already been to the vets and is on Antibiotics, Anti-inflammatories, pain meds & eyedrops. I’m also changing his dressing on his effected paw twice daily.
All 7 of the wrinkles family will be getting neutered/spayed so that they are never put in this position again. I will also be fully vaccinating, fleaing, worming & microchipping them all. The cause of Mr Wrinkles nose/ paw ailments are currently unknown - he is booked in to be neutered on the 19th March & if his ailments have not settled by then we will be carrying out biopsies & further investigations to try and determine the cause of these.
Currently their estimated vet bills will be around £2300, however I am anticipating more bills down the line.
Anything you can give would be an amazing help & massively appreciated. Thank you so so so much from me & The Wrinkles family!
**edit
Mr Wrinkles has suspected bladder stones - something that’ll also need further investigation with scans & require more meds
Mummy has a slight head murmur & could require meds for this
Baby Wrinkles also has a significant heart murmur for his age (a 3 out of 6 grading), there’s a high chance this wikl
lead to further health complications in the future.
This means there’s a high chance the 4 new kittens will of inherited a multitude of health conditions from both mum & dad and will also need treatment
