Sprague has to have surgery on Monday the 1st of October to have a golf ball sized mass removed from his brain. After months of headaches that were regarded by doctors as just simply migraines, an emergency room visit CTA scan has revealed that there is a 3.2 cm mass in his cerebellum. It's size and location account for his dizziness, loss of strength and coordination, and overwhelming feelings of nausea among other things.
The good news is that it is operable. Sprague is in the hands of an amazingly skilled neurosurgery team at Massachusetts General and they plan to perform a suboccipital craniotomy on Monday. He will miss months of work and fire calls and most likely will require physical and speech therapy post-surgery.
I would like to reach out to our community to raise some money for travel expenses, bills and winter preparation for this amazing family. They are exceptional parents and wonderful friends to any and all. We need to surround them with strength, love and prayers right now.
